Having been officially opened for play by championship golfer Fred Daly in September 1990, Ashfield has proceeded to evolve into one of the great success stories of Co. Armagh. Frank Ainsworth, who worked on the Malone and Belfast courses, spend two years designing the course and converting the land from an arable farming set up by James and Elizabeth Quinn. The course has seen continuous improvement over the years, with thousands of trees planted from a wide variety of species, various new lakes added, maturing greens and larger tee boxes all aimed at enhancing the challenge and the enjoyment.
