Cabrera-Bello continues to excel

Spain's Rafael Cabrera-Bello continued his impressive recent form when the BMW International Open resumed in Munich on Friday.

Cabrera-Bello, who has finished fourth, 13th and second in his last three events on the European Tour, carded an opening 65 at Eichenried Golf Club to share the overnight lead with England's Daniel Gaunt and Denmark's Lasse Jensen.

And the 28-year-old carried on where he left off in the second round, carding birdies on the 12th, 13th, 16th and 18th - having started from the 10th - to reach the turn in 32 and improve to 11 under par.

However, that was only good enough for a one-shot lead over Jensen, who had gone to the turn in 34 before recovering from a dropped shot on the 10th with birdies at the 12th and 13th.

Northern Ireland's Michael Hoey was producing the best golf of the day to move to nine under, the five-time European Tour winner bouncing back from a bogey on the second with seven birdies in the next nine holes.

Ireland's Kevin Phelan was two shots further back thanks to a hat-trick of birdies from the fourth, with Gaunt on six under after following six pars with a bogey on the seventh.

World number seven Henrik Stenson was among the later starters as he looked to build on an eventful opening 67, with home favourite Martin Kaymer needing to improve on a first round of 72 to make the halfway cut.
