For one of the truest and most natural links experiences you are every likely to enjoy, head for Colonsay Golf Club in the Inner Hebrides. The island is located north of Islay and south of Mull and has an area of just over 16sq/m. Fortunately, however, they’ve managed to fit in a golf course – and what a beautiful course it is, too. Although quite short, measuring under 5,000 yards from the first tee to the 18th pin, it is still a thoroughly enjoyable test of golf. You’ll need to become a member to play the course – but that will cost you only £20 a year and, in the view of those who’ve already joined, it might prove to be the best £20 you spend on golf.
