Cliftonville is an interesting parkland course situated near the city. It was founded in 1911 and has been a favourite hotspot with local golfers ever since. A river comes into play on two fairways and you will need to be wary on a number of holes quite a few of the hazards are hidden. Over the years the Cliftonville club has achieved some notable results in amateur club competitions and leagues, including the winning of the North of Ireland Championship in the 1960s by Billy Tennant, a past president and now an honorary member of the club. Billy jointly held the course record of 66 with Ian Nesbitt for many years although this was broken recently and later equalled at 65 by Alan Porter.
