Founded in 1914, this is one of Ulster's oldest golf clubs and being just ten minutes' drive from the city centre of Belfast it is also one of the most popular in the region for obvious reasons. Balmoral is a fairly short course, like a few others in the region, but its test comes not in the form of exaggerated length, but rather strategically positioned bunkers and various tall trees. The legendary Fred Daly, winner of the Open Championship in 1947 at Hoylake Royal Liverpool, has long been associated with the club. A number of famous Irish professionals have shown their admiration for the club, which speaks volumes for its challenge.
