Skerries is probably one of the best championship courses on the outskirts of Dublin yet never seems to get the attention or praise it so richly deserves. The club was founded in 1905 and is located approximately six miles east of the Dublin/Belfast road and about twenty minutes from Dublin airport. It is an 18-hole parkland course with undulating fairways and mature trees and enjoys magnificent views of the sea, extending from the Mourne Mountains to Howth and the Wicklow Mountains. The course measures 6, 107 metres from the medal tees and so is not overly long like most championship courses. But what it loses in length it more than makes up for in its challenge.
