One of Ireland’s finest private golf clubs, Carton House is home to two unique courses designed by a couple of the game’s most famous names. Eight-time European No.1 Colin Montgomerie and two-time ‘Major’-winner Mark O’Meara have each lent their design skills – and their names – to the two exceptional 18-hole championship-standard golf courses at the club, and to fine effect, too. The Montgomerie Course is perhaps the more famous of the two and was designed by the Scot with his roots at Royal Troon firmly in mind. It hosted the Irish Open in 2005 and 2006. The O’Meara, meantime, measures in excess of 7,000 yards and is widely-considered to be one of the finest new courses to open in Ireland since 2000.
