Originally designed by J.H. Taylor & Hawtree Ltd., the marvellous course at Selby Golf Club has benefited over the years by implementing a few design alterations made by Donald Steel & Co. With such great golf course architects working on the course, it is hardly surprising that is as good an example of links golf as you will find anywhere outside the likes of Royal St. George's and the other major Championships venues. It first opened in 1907 and since then has become an eighteen-hole delight, measuring over 6350 yards, for which it offers a par of 70. It is mainly flat and is given extra character by a prevailing southwesterly wind that can play havoc with even the best of shots.
