If there is a better looked after course in the country than the one at Mere Golf & Country Club, then it is yet to be found. Tees have been rebuilt, hundreds of mature trees introduced, and new water features and pathways have been introduced in recent years to produce one of the finest courses in the North West of England. Such is the high regard in which it is held, Mere is affectionately called 'the Wentworth of the North', a title given to it by Sky Sports commentator Steve Beddows. The 'Famous Four' last holes ensure that the course lingers long in the memory after you leave, with drives over ravines and water, cleverly-positioned bunkers and trees, and 90-degree dog-legs. Challenging and immensely enjoyable.
