Sunningdale is, without doubt, one of the finest inland golf courses in the United Kingdom, if not Europe. Few courses can match the heathland drama that is available here and few can top the variety of holes, all of which are literally bursting with character. It was here in 1926 that the legendary Bobby Jones played his infamous round of 66 - out in 33 and, amazingly, back in 33 - to qualify for the Open Championship that year at Royal Lytham & St Annes. It true Jones style, he went on to win the Claret Jug. The Old Course, designed by Willie Park Jnr, is rightly considered a classic in every respect. Visitors are welcome by prior arrangement. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays the course is restricted to members only.
