Biography
In 1991, college amateur Phil Mickelson claimed his maiden victory on the US PGA Tour and the three-time major winner hasn't looked back since.
After turning professional in 1992, the tournament victories came thick and fast, but success as the majors proved elusive. Mickelson, nicknamed 'Lefty', was soon dubbed 'the best player never to have won a major'.
Finally, in 2004, Mickelson ended his draught with triumph at The Masters and made it back-to-back major wins at the US Open.
The following season he secured his third major victory at the US PGA Championship.
Recognised among the greatest short-game players in history, Mickelson's natural flair and touch around the greens have made him one of the most watchable and well-supported players on the circuit.
