Biography
Colin Montgomerie represented Europe in eight Ryder Cups as a player, and it was no surprise when he asked to captain the side at Celtic Manor in 2010.
In a profilic career on the European Tour Montgomerie won 31 titles and claimed eight order of merit titles.
The Scot has never managed a victory at the majors, however, finising 2nd or T2 five times - and is often referred to as one of the best players the game have seen without a major.
Montgomerie was awarded an OBE in 2004.
