Open Championship spot made available at next week's Barracuda Championship

Open Championship organisers will open up a qualification spot for next month's event at Troon to a player at next week's Barracuda Championship in Nevada.

The place was originally to be allocated to a player at the Greenbrier Classic in July but that tournament has now been cancelled by the PGA Tour following devastating flooding in West Virginia.

Now one player who finishes in the top five and ties at the Barracuda Championship, who is not already exempt for the Open, will secure a place at Troon, the R&A has announced. In the event of a tie, the place will go to the player with the higher world ranking.
