Luke Donald will tee it up at the US Open at Oakmont in two weeks' time after successfully coming through qualifying for the second year in a row.

The former world number one is no longer exempt for the year's second major championship after slipping to 80th in the world rankings and faced a six-man play-off in Ohio on Tuesday morning after a weather delay prevented play from being completed on Monday.

Rounds of 68 and 69 had gotten Donald into the play-off and with five remaining places available, American Daniel Summerhays was the man to miss out after he bogeyed the second extra hole.

"Mission accomplished!" Donald posted on his Instagram account. "Can't wait to get to Oakmont next week for the US Open.

"I've had to qualify the last 2 years for the US Open, haven't liked it, but somehow making it this way feels pretty damn rewarding."

US Amateur champion Bryson DeChambeau had waived his exemption when he turned professional but he also came through qualifying in Ohio, with the section won by Carlos Ortiz of Mexico.
