Ishikawa among PGA hopefuls at Puerto Rico Open

Japan's Ryo Ishikawa hopes this week's return to the scene of one of his brightest moments on the US PGA Tour will help revive his season.

Ishikawa, who has missed the cut in his past three starts, will be among the featured players at the $3.5 million Puerto Rico Open.

While most of the world's top players will play at the World Golf Championships event at Miami, a mix of young talent and six major winners will compete for the $630,000 top prize at Trump International.

Ishikawa finished second in the event in 2012 and had not matched that showing on tour until earlier this season, when he shared second at the Shriners Hospitals Open last November.

The 22-year-old from Saitama shared seventh at Torrey Pines in Janaury and appeared to be on a roll but has not broken 70 since.

Ishikawa will play alongside Sweden's Robert Karlsson and Belgium's Nicolas Colsaerts in the first and second rounds.

Defending champion Scott Brown will play alongside George McNeill, who beat Ishikawa for the 2012 crown, and Swede Carl Pettersson.

Former major winners in the event include South Korean Yang Yong-Eun, the first Asian man to win a major after his 2009 PGA Championship victory.

Others include South African Trevor Immelman and Americans John Daly, Lee Janzen, David Toms and David Duval.
