Gary Woodland takes a one-shot lead into final day of the OHL Classic

American Gary Woodland remained in contention for his first PGA Tour victory in more than three years as he heads into the final day of the OHL Classic with a one-shot lead.

The 32-year-old, whose last win came at the Reno-Tahoe Open Stableford event in August 2013, shot a five-under 66 in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, to move to 18 under and retain his slender overnight advantage.

However, his lead could have been greater as he was seven under through 13 holes before a double-bogey five - his first dropped shot in 48 holes - halted his progress.

Pat Perez's nine-under 62 - which contained an eagle, eight birdies and a bogey - saw him move into second place outright.

Scott Piercy is another stroke further back but Webb Simpson, Woodland's nearest challenger after the first two rounds, fell four shots off the lead after a 69.

Ireland's Rio Olympian Seamus Power, playing in only his fourth PGA Tour event, is just three off the lead after carding seven birdies in a blemish-free 64.
