Plane makes emergency landing on Houston golf course

A single-engine plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a golf course when it ran out of fuel over Houston, Texas.
Veteran pilot Brendan Ford was on en-route to Columbus, Texas, when he heard his engine splutter and realised he did not have enough fuel to carry him the remaining distance.
Ford spotted Hermann Park Golf Course below and used a fairway as his runway.
He successfully landed the plane at 6pm local time, avoided what could have been a tragic crash.
"They have a wonderful golf course," Ford said. "Very smooth fairways and it's a nice place to land your plane if you land short."
