Monty in road crash

21 Oct 2010 - 15:30:29

Colin Montgomerie was involved in a car accident on Thursday.

Montgomerie, 47, who captained Europe to victory over the United States in the Ryder Cup earlier this month, did not require hospital treatment.

It is thought his car was involved in a crash with a van near Glasgow.

A spokesman for the Scottish Ambulance Service said they had received a report of a collision involving a van, a lorry and two cars.

The spokesman said: "Three ambulances were sent to the scene but no-one required hospitalisation. There were minor and superficial injuries."

A spokeswoman for Strathclyde Police said: "Police received a report of a crash on the A80 at Moodiesburn at around 11.30am.

"It does not look as though anyone is seriously injured."

Firefighters helped to clear the vehicles from the carriageway.
