Hine to captain RA

Air Chief Marshal Sir Patrick Hine is to be the next captain of the Royal and Ancient Club. His year of office will start after the traditional driving in ceremony on September 23.
A former member of the Black Arrows aerobatic team, he was an England boy international and became an R&A member in 1995.
He was appointed Vice-Chief of the Defence Staff from 1985-87 and Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief Strike Command the following year.
In 1989 he was made Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the Bath and two years later came the award of the Knight Grand Cross of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire while he was Joint Commander of all British Forces during the Gulf War.
