Situated in southwest Scotland overlooking the North Channel to Ireland, this area enjoys a temperate climate due to the Gulf Stream and golf is playable all year round. It was in 1902 that the late Mr CL Orr Ewing MP realized the possibilities open to Portpatrick and immediately set about the provision of a golf course. Recent changes have seen the name change to Portpatrick Golf Club and the clubhouse extended on two occasions. The course has also been extended and bunkers introduced some ten years ago. The quality of the course and the friendly atmosphere that abounds sees the return of well-bent faces each year to test their skill whatever way the wind blows.
