The UK’s highest golf course – it sits at around 1,200 feet above sea level – Braemar is one of the finest golfing treats in the North-East of Scotland. Founded in 1902, it started life as a nine-hole layout before an additional nine holes were added later. Today, it enjoys a beautiful location with magnificent scenery to enjoy from most holes, and it has a reputation for having what are broadly considered to be amongst the finest greens in the region. Despite being relatively short, measuring just under 5,000 yards, it is an excellent test of golf for players of all standards with some exceptionally tricky holes to tackle along the way. It’s pretty much irresistible.
