Laid out in 1927 by the venerable British course architect, HS Colt, Belvoir Park has been regarded through the years as one of the finest inland courses not only in Belfast but in the north of Ireland. Harry Bradshaw won the Irish Open Championship over this course in the late 1940s and claimed afterwards that it was "the best inland course I have ever played". Such praise is not uncommon at this club. Plenty of top drawer events have been played here, most recently the Smurfit Irish PGA Championship in 1995, won by Ryder Cup hero and Irishman Philip Walton.
