Darlington golf course is amongst those lucky enough to be able to claim it was designed by esteemed golf course architect Dr. Alister Mackenzie, the gentleman responsible for the Augusta National golf course in Georgia, home, of course, to the US Masters. Founded in 1908, it is set on wooded parkland with a par of 70 for its eighteen demanding holes. It is around average length for a golf course in the district, measuring 6270 yards. Visitors can expect to have to pay £25 per round or £30 per day on weekdays, again in line with the county average. And for those who need to hone on certain aspects on their game, there is a nine acre practice area on the club's grounds.
