The Donnington Valley golf course has, in recent years, undergone many changes to its layout, having been redesigned and lengthened between 1998 and 2000. Now, it poses a significantly greater challenge for those willing to take it on, measuring, as it does, a mighty 6353 yards, with a par of 71 off the back tees. The surroundings could scarcely be more idyllic for a round of golf: beautiful, undulating Berkshire countryside; a listed Victorian-made clubhouse; and several water features and matured trees which double up rather effectively as troublesome hazards. Whilst some of the holes seem quite forgiving, prepare yourself for the closing four where substantial water features, although easy on the eye, can ruin your scorecard.
