Joost Luiten maintains fine form to trail by one in Shenzhen International

Holland's Joost Luiten continued his superb recent form before bad weather disrupted the Shenzhen International for the third time on Friday.

Luiten, whose second place in the Spanish Open last week was his fifth top-10 finish in eight events this season, was seven under par through 11 holes of his second round before the threat of lightning forced players from the course.

Starting on the back nine at Genzon Golf Club, Luiten holed his approach to the par-four 11th and fired four birdies in a row from the 15th to race to the turn in just 30 shots.

The world number 64 also birdied the second from close range to move to 11 under par and a shot behind Korea's Soomin Lee, who was in equally good form with six birdies in his first 10 holes.

The threat of lightning meant that 46 minutes had been lost on Thursday, resulting in 32 players having to return to finish their first rounds on Friday morning.

None of those players could make a major move up the leaderboard, with South Africa's Brandon Stone parring the last to stay at five under, one shot off the target set by Lee and France's Alexander Levy.

Just an hour and 40 minutes of play was possible in the second round before a thunderstorm caused a delay of three hours, and although play was able to resume shortly before noon local time, more bad weather arrived two hours later.

Lee and Luiten were threatening to pull away from the rest of the field, with Stone and Gary Stal five shots off the pace on seven under and Levy, who had yet to even start his round, another shot adrift.
