England's Eddie Pepperell carded a third-round 63 to move to within one shot of the lead at the King's Cup on Saturday.
The 25-year-old from Oxfordshire fired an eagle on the sixth hole and six birdies at Phoenix Gold Golf Club, with his only flaw a bogey on the fifth as he reached eight under, joint second with South African Jaco Ahlers.
The pair trail by one shot from leader Chan Shih-chang of Taiwan, who finished with a flawless 63 which included seven birdies.
Fellow Englishman Mark Foster is just two strokes behind C han in joint fourth with France's Lionel Weber after carding a third-round 66.
Halfway leader Terry Pilkadaris dropped down to a three-way tie for sixth after recording four bogeys and three birdies to finish with 71 ahead of the final round.
Alongside the Australian are Taiwan's Lin Wen-tang and S Chikkarangappa of India on six under, while Swede Johan Edfors and Jeev Milkha Singh round off the top 10.
