The Dustbin Lid Man - Monty has some serious kahunas

Read opinion and analysis in the golf.co.uk blog

Have no fear friends, I haven’t gone to the great blog in the sky just yet. I've been away sunning myself in sunnier places for a week or two, but now I'm back and raring to impart my wisdom directly into your face.

In Ryder Cup news I can reveal Monty has proved he has balls, and I don't mean the Titleist kind.

He simply could not leave out young Molinari after that sensational finish on Sunday, but to not pick Casey took some kahunas I can tell you. It's left us with a strong team, but whether it's good enough to win only time will tell.

My esteemed colleague Will Tidey and I will be reporting live each day from the Ryder Cup and will be giving you our thoughts directly via a daily podcast, so listen up for the best rooting tooting yanky doodle dandy commentating this side of Louisiana.

In the meantime I wanted to draw your attention to a very interesting golfing event. After a successful inaugural tournament last year, the Disabled British open 2010 will take place on the 21st September at the East Sussex National Golf Resort.

With three categories depending on their golf handicaps the competitors will duke it out over two days to find the best disabled golfer out there. For more info go to check out the website, it will be fascinating viewing http://www.disabledbritishopen.org/

I just want to extend a good luck to all the competitors and hope everybody who makes their way there to watch the action has a lot of fun.

I’m a golf nut, there I’ve said it. I’ve long been struggling against the wind, rain and lost balls thrown at me by golf courses of all shapes and sizes. Golf is my compulsion and I hope to offer some solace to the fellow obsessed out there every Thursday with my perspective on the grassroots game.
