Lahiri leads Selangor Masters

India's Anirban Lahiri stepped into the early lead with a seven-under-par 64 in opening-round play Thursday at the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters in Malaysia.

His countryman S.S.P. Chowrasia shot a 66 for a share of second-place with Chan Yih-shin of Taiwan at the 1.3 million ringgit ($403,000) tournament.

Lahiri, a four-time Asian Tour winner who is currently second on the tour's Order of Merit, grabbed the lead with a 10-birdie performance at the Seri Selangor Golf Club near Kuala Lumpur.

Hung Chien-yao of Taiwan was in sole fourth place with a 67, while seven others were tied for fifth.
