Denmark's Thorbjorn Olesen still in command at Turkish Airlines Open

Runaway leader Thorbjorn Olesen enjoyed a slice of good luck he barely needed as the third round of the £5.7million Turkish Airlines Open got under way.

Olesen held a six-shot lead at the halfway stage thanks to a stunning second round of 62, the Dane setting a new course record with eight birdies, an eagle and a bogey at the Regnum Carya Golf & Spa Resort.

And the 26-year-old remained half a dozen clear of the field thanks to a birdie on the second after his wayward tee shot hit a tree and bounced onto the green, just six feet from the hole.

Scotland's David Drysdale was Olesen's nearest challenger after making a superb start of his own, the 41-year-old carding a hat-trick of birdies from the second to move to 10 under par.

England's David Horsey, Sweden's Joakim Lagergren and Spain's Adrian Otaegui were a shot further back, with David Lipsky, Li Haotong, Matteo Manassero and Thongchai Jaidee on eight under.

Masters champion Danny Willett, who needs to finish fifth or better to reclaim top spot in the Race to Dubai from Henrik Stenson, was in joint 51st after two birdies in his first three holes.
