Dromoland Castle Golf & Country Club is set for an exciting development in April 2004. That's when a new course which has cost 5 million Euros is set to open and, according to the owners, it will "provide Ireland with a golf resort like no other". Golf isn't new to Dromoland Castle. American architect Brook L Wiggington designed a course there in the early 1960s and part of that has been retained in the new design by Ron Kirby and J.B. Carr. The championship course measures over 6850 yards and roams through the extensive woodland and around the feral lakes of this 16th century estate with "subtlety and sensitivity". Visitors are welcome on any day.
