Kirkistown Castle was formed in 1902 and extended in 1929, with the new layout over the original nine hole course but embracing considerably more ground and consisting of two loops of nine holes, each beginning and ending at the clubhouse. This fine old links course, designed by the legendary course architect James Braid and residing on the coast of County Down, has a tremendous variety of holes. The long 397-yard par four 10th plays like a par five when into the wind, so don't expect to be making birdie too easily. The course is described as a true and fair test of golf that caters for low and high handicappers alike.
