Milltown played an important part in the background of Irish golf, in that it was one of the first clubs to run an Open Mixed Foursomes Matchplay event. Over the years, the Milltown tournament had become extremely popular as both a golf and social week and it attracted large galleries. Between 1939 and 1967 it was dominated by Joe Carr who won it nine times. It is a flat parkland course with extensive panoramic views. A relatively easy walking course, don't let it fool you - this particular layout has a nasty bite to it and can surprise you when you least expect it. Features include long par four and tough par fives to test your long irons and some tight approaches to well protected greens.
