Followers of English amateur golf will recognise the name Copt Heath Golf Club as it is the annual home of the prestigious Peter McEvoy Trophy, previous winners being Matt Richardson, Zane Scotland, Justin Rose, Brian Davis and Lee Westwood. Harry Vardon, the great professional and noted golf course architect, designed to course at Copt Heath. The club has hosted many local and national tournaments, both for professionals and amateurs. A mixture of parkland and heathland, it provides a wonderful test of golf through beautiful tree-lined fairways. The start is very demanding and to be level fours after the fifth is not a disgrace. There is not a lot of rough on the course - all you have to worry about are the bunkers, all 101 of them!
