Located just outside Stanley, South Moor golf club offers a testing moorland course that is widely regarded as one of the most challenging in the North East of England, and so a handicap certificate is required if you wish to take it on. It is certainly not for the faint of heart as it features many natural hazards with well placed bunkers becoming all the more difficult to successfully negotiate in blustery conditions. Out of bounds also features on many holes and the long par 3s and taxing par 5s mean that, unless you keep your wits, a good scoring day may not be on the cards.
