The history of Bromborough golf club is somewhat turbulent and essentially a tale of triumph over adversity. Originally founded as a nine-hole course in 1903, it was closed in 1939 due to the Second World War, and remained unopened for ten years. Then, in 1969, four of the holes and a substantial amount of the acreage was lost to the M53 motorway. However, Lord Leverhulme - something of a club talisman - allowed the course good farming land to resurrect it. Today, in the heart of the Wirral, the course is ranked amongst the finest in the County, measuring over 6603 yards and featuring possibly the most daunting closing four holes to a course in the country, as well as some particularly demanding par threes.
