Seventeen players were separated by just five shots as the BMW Masters headed for an exciting climax in Shanghai on Sunday.

Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee took a one-shot lead into the final round at Lake Malaren but could only manage one bogey and eight pars on the front nine to fall two behind Sweden's Kristoffer Broberg and Denmark's Lucas Bjerregaard.

Broberg had made the ideal start in pursuit of his first European Tour title with four birdies in the first eight holes before dropping a shot on the ninth, while Bjerregaard - who was runner-up to Justin Rose in Hong Kong recently - was three under after five before a bogey on the eighth.

At 16 under par, the leading pair were one shot ahead of Ian Poulter, Paul Casey and Sergio Garcia, with Jaidee, Byeong Hun An and American Patrick Reed another shot back.

Casey and Poulter were both three under for their rounds while Garcia had recovered from bogey on the first with birdies on the fourth and eighth.
